Diploma in Optometry
The course of diploma in Optometry was established in 1958 at Gandhi Eye Hospital. This is the first school in India for imaparting training in Optometry with the affiliation of State Medical Faculty, Lucknow. No. of seats are 60.
Diploma in Orthoptics And Pleoptics
This course was started in 1962. Gandhi Eye Hospital has unique distinction of having one of the best equipped orthoptics department in the country where proper facilities of teaching & training by well qualified staff exist. No. of seats are 15.
Bridge Course
This course of one year duration was started in 2009 by State Medical Faculty, Lucknow for those candidates who have passed the two years Orthoptics Diploma & wants to complete the Optometry course also. Such candidates required for one year Bridge Course to complete the course of Optometry. No. of seats are 8.
Basic Qualification
Basic qualification for Sl.No. 1 & 2 are Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Mathematics from Board recognized by U.P. State Medical Faculty Lucknow, equivalent to U.P. Board and must have completed 17 years of age on 31st December of the year in which admission is being sought.
For Sl. No. 3, the candidates should have passed the two years Orthoptics Diploma from any recognized institution.
